Why It’s Important
Air-cooled heat exchangers lie at the heart of the energy efficiency of air conditioning systems. Weather, environmental conditions, dirt and debris are constantly damaging outdoor cooling equipment. Enercoat® protects the surface of heat exchanger coils to prevent this damage from occurring. Untreated coils begin to corrode from the first day they are exposed to the elements. There is an estimated 3 – 5% loss in efficiency per year due to corrosion.

Enercoat® Treatment Process can be broken down into two main parts: cleaning and coating Each step of the process must meet certain criteria before proceeding to the next step.
Many steps include chemical applications which require proper and safe technique. Most
notably, Enercoat® requires proper spraying techniques to achieve a full but thin coating
while avoiding bridging.
Cleaning Process – Disassembly
Unscrewing fan guards, sheet metal and other barriers of the condenser coil
Cleaning Process – Fin Straightening
Using fin combs, utility knives and needle nose pliers to comb the fins back to straight lines
Cleaning Process – Foam Cleaning & Etching
Apply a condenser coil cleaner to the coil, letting it sit, and rinsing it off repeatedly until the water leaving the coil becomes completely clear water.
Coating Process – Spraying & Blow Dry
- Using a spray gun to apply Enercoat to the condenser coil.
- This process is done using 4 passes at a different angle to the coil
- Prevent to causes bridging between fins
- When bridging is found, a leaf blower or other high air pressure device is used to blow the bridging
